Where Can I Serve?

We are the body of Christ

Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)

Christ Has No Body

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as reading scripture and stacking Bibles to caring for the widowed and children among us and visiting the sick.

However, most important to Prism is that we love period and are a Just Peace Church.  We believe in the national campaign of the UCC that is- that God’s love knows no boundaries and thus why our church has no walls. We work to take down walls and boundaries between Christians and the “Other.” We stand up for those who can not stand and speak up for those whose voices may not be heard otherwise.  Talk with us about why we welcome the refugee or what we think of “privilege”  or ask us why protest in Washington and we will point you to the ways in which we serve.  All are welcome and encouraged to serve with us by following the example of Christ who was the greatest advocate for those on the margins of society
